Child Safety Standards

1. Zero Tolerance Policy

Whisperio enforces a zero-tolerance policy toward any content or conduct related to the sexual abuse and exploitation of children (CSAE). When such content or conduct is detected or reported to us, our moderation team removes the content and permanently closes the account involved.

2. Automated Content Moderation

Content in the app is automatically scanned by the OpenAI Moderation API; this scan also covers sexual content and categories related to minors. Every Explore post and comment (including images) is scanned before it is published, and content flagged in these categories is never published; if the scanning service is unreachable at that moment, the content is published, rescanned later, and removed automatically if flagged. In one-to-one chats, text messages and photos are scanned as they are sent, while voice messages are transcribed to text and scanned after delivery; photos in chats are shown blurred to the recipient, who can choose to reveal them. Written content that sexualizes minors (including the transcript of a voice message) is not delivered to the other person in chat; if it was already delivered — a voice message, or when the scanning service was unreachable — it is automatically removed for both sides once detected and reviewed by our moderation team as a priority (urgent). Other content flagged in chats goes to our moderation team's review queue. Messages and posts in which a user writes that they are under 18 are also automatically flagged for review by the moderation team only; in temporary chats, the app may show a safety reminder when there is a large age gap between the two people. If a flagged message is deleted or edited by its sender, its original is still kept for review. Automated scanning alone does not close accounts; content removal and account closure decisions are made by our moderation team. Voice calls are not recorded and are not automatically scanned; they start only with the mutual consent of both people and last for a limited time.

3. User Reporting Mechanism

Users can report any account, post, comment, or voice call from within the app, citing a reason — including concerns related to child safety. Chat messages are reviewed through the copy of messages attached to the report when a person is reported. Every report is instantly forwarded to our moderation team through an admin panel that requires verified, named accounts to access. Reports citing child safety are marked urgent and placed at the top of the review list. When a user is reported, a copy of the most recent messages between the two people is attached to the report; even if the reported person deletes their account, the messages they sent in the last 30 days are kept for 1 year and can still be reported. Voice call reports are reviewed together with the call record (parties, time, duration).

4. Review and Action

Pending reports are reviewed by our moderation team together with a full preview of the content in question; content removal and/or account suspension is carried out within 24 hours. Content flagged by automated moderation but not yet reported by any user is also proactively reviewed in a separate queue. Every action is recorded in an immutable audit log.

5. Legal Obligations and Reporting to Authorities

If child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is encountered, Whisperio reports it to the competent authorities as required by applicable law (including, where appropriate, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline) and preserves the requested evidence for the legally required period. Even if a reported account or an account closed for rule violations is deleted, the related report records and reported content are kept for 1 year (see the Account Deletion page).
